The water crisis in Southern Africa cannot be simply understood in
terms of climatic conditions alone. Water is a primary source for
economic activity, industrial, commercial and agricultural production
in the region. These factors contribute to a political difference of
how water sources are to be shared amongst competing states. On the
other hand water has become big business and the European Union has
showed interest in privatising domestic supplies. Water scarcity is not
limited to climatic conditions but is also, socialy constructed.
